Bailey Lags In Scrap Drive

Is sponsoring a scrap
drive so that the de
fense factories may
continue unlimited
production.

pounds. Encouraging
students to Increase
their poundage, Mr,
Walker has announced a
free admission to the
school movie for each
student bringing one
hundred po\mds and,
likewise, to the room
in each department of
the school leading in
pounds a free adniis-
slon.
SCHOOLS COMPETE
All schools of Nash
County arc competing
in this drive. To date
Bailey is not among
the schools leading.
Parents are urged to
aid in securing the
scrap.
SCHOOL PURCHASES
SET OF WORLD BOOKS
For the benefit of
the grammar grades as
well as high school
the library has ob
tained this fall a new
nineteen volume set of
World Books,
Mrj; Walker announces
that the cost was$8750
and is to be paid for
by monthly payments of
^20.00.

select students quali

VARIED SUBJECTS
The different groups
will study a variety
of subjects; as, hand
ling of machinery,
first aid, home nurs
ing, duties of fire
and air raid wardens,
assisting In harvest
ing of farm crops, and
helping in salvage
campaigns,
STATED OBJECTIVES
Three objectives of
the corps are (1) to
harden young American
bodies to fit them for
any required services,
(2) to develop stu
dents spiritually and
morally as well as
physically, and (3) to
train them for defense
occupations.
