March 12. 1945 BAILEY BUGLE Pap;e 1 SENIORS ASSUME INITIATIVE IN VICTORY CORPS Seriiofs Make Study Of Sh3kespeare Members of the senior class in connection with the study of Mac beth, design a crea tive notebook dealing with Shakespeare’s life and works. The class is divided into groups which are assigned certain fLd.d's for study. Inclxided for intentive study are reports on Shakes peare’s life, his fam ous sayings, character sketches and actors playing the part of these characters, syn opses of plays, tri butes and memorials, the theatres of Shakes peare’s day and his Influence upon them. Heading the various groups are Elsie Pearl Eatmon, Martin Liles, Hildred Ruffin, Henry Earl Glover, Martha Bimn, Josephine Pace, Sarah Morgan Farmer, find John Dev;, Driving Test Held Prospective bus driv ers for next year, isho recently took a test and passed are Herman Anderson,Adolph Brant ley, Braxton Deans, and Harold Glover. The test given by a state official consist ed of a written ex- ami^s-tion on control and operation of a school bus ^ Sind also a road test, Q^hev contestants,Forest and* Konaine Perry are expecting to complete their , junior? Firsr To Conrribut© To Red Cross At a class meeting, March 1, the juniors unanim.ously voted to contribute $25 from the class treasury to the Rod Cross. In ad dition, individual mem bers v/ere asked to con tribute as liberally as possible. This class, the first in school to appropri ate money from its class funds, felt that no worthier cause could be supported. The funds were raised last fall by moans of a subscription cam- paign. March -RedGoss (Drive President Roosevelt's request for a 125 mil lion-dollar donation to the American Red Cross during the month of March amounts to approximately one dol lar per person for e- very man, woman, and child of America. The services of the Red Cross are too well knovm to need enumer ation. The question is can anyone afford to fail to contribute his proportional part. One dollar will en title a person to mom- bership. Any donation will be acceptcd. Bailey’s quota is $400. Bailey must not fall short, Have you contributed? 1 H. Higti CLASS PLANS ACTIVITIES Victory Corps activi ties, long planned and devated in Bailey High School, are now car ried out in full by the senior class. Division of the class into three groups with captains and co-cap tains for each group makes the corps a com petitive organization. OBJECTIVES The first active duty assumed by the corps v;as the assistance in the local Red Cross drive. The tlaree di visions, v;orking com petitively, led in the school drive with a ^62,00 collection. The juniors were second v/ith |40. Other objectives for the year include buy ing and selling of war bonds and stamps, col lecting books for sol diers, collecting tin cans and kitchen-fats, Co-operating v/ith the pleasure driving pro gram is also another objective. Banquet Cancelled For patrotic reasons the junior-senior ban quet this year is to be cancelled and . in its place an informal party will be given. Committees are al ready working on the food, entertainment, and decoration pro grams. The date is set for April 9,
