AlllCRAFT WARNING NOTICE Observers at the Bailey Observation Post will be called upon on April 2G, 1943, to maintain a (24) tv/enty-four hour watch for airplanes it was. revealed today. Authority has been granted by V/ILLIS R. TAYLOI^ Commanding General of the first filter conmiand of the Army Air Forces for the activation of the R/wLEIG-II FILTER CEITTER. Heretofore, the BAIIEY, N. C. Observation Post was on an "instant alert" basis, v\rith the observers ready to go into action at a moment's notice. The purpose of thjs activation, according to Lt, Colonel Oscar C. Tinger, Regional Commander, Wilmington Air Defense Region, is testing the efficiency of the Aircraft Warning System v/ithin the V/ilmington Region, including Ground Observer Organisations, Civilian Vol\inteer V/orkers in ’the filter centers, and Communi cation Facilities, The Vi/ilmington Air Defense Region comprises almost the entire state of Horth Carolina.
