Tlirough the coopera tion of the people and the food conservation program sponsored by the Bailey agricultur al department last spring, the projoct was made possible EQUIPIffll'IT NEEDED To make this a com plete unit equipped for canning, the Bai ley community v/ill need to furnish knives, pans, tubs" and stra iners. This v;ill call for an expenditure of about one hundred dol lars . It is hjpcd that this oquiomcnt will bo ready by the time the cannery is completed. A small foe for the op- or!^-tion v/ill be the only cost. COURSES OFFERED • In order that several people may become fam- ilar with the opera tion of the canncry, minimuin courses 'during the fall and winter will bo offered, ia- cluding only tv/olve or thirteen indivuals at one time, REQUIREJffiNTS /uiyone interested in this training before canning season may see nr, L, Tapp and make reservation for the group.Efforts v;ill bo made to enroll all desiring the course. Bailey Scores High In CompetitiveTest During the sch'^ol year of 1942-43, the Bailey Chapter ranked eighth in the state in competition v/ith 380 activG chapters. The chapters wore scored on the basis of aecomplisliments in supervised practices, cooperative activities, home and community ser vice, leadership, earn ings, and savings,con duct jf meetings, sch olarship, recreation, and p-:,blicity.
