Janvuxry 10, 1944 BAILEY BUGLE Pap;o 14 Country StorGj Countrymen's Club Men in particular are by instinct gregarious. As proof, behold the popularity of a coun try store at night pr on a snowy or rainy day. Formerly, the country store was the general nev/spaper of the com munity, the debaters' meeting groimd, and recreational center for checker players and hUlbilly musicians. Here, too, heated po litical, conventions were held late into the night. Modern ways have made few changes in the country store. Here vie find the coimtryman's club. Around its big iron stove still gather the debaters, the liars’ club, the checker players, the yarn swappers. Only the loud,speaker of the radio and the presence of soft drinks tell that this is 1944 rather than 1900. I Icnov/. My father runs a country store. At nine o'clock Gabriel Heater roigns. His comments furnish the topics for the re mainder of the evening. D. Eatmon V ParGnts Critical Of Bus Drivers Criticism of bus drivers heard in this community reveals that the students often drive too fast around the curves, cut cross- ways the road to keep another truck from passing, try to demon strate stunt driving, and give evidence of general carelessness. Mr, M.W, liVoavcr asks that such complaints be reported to the school.
