I am hoping, however, that you will from nov/ until February 15, put forth your very best efforts in this latest salvage program, V/hat are the causes of the present, acute shortage? They. ' are three in number. 1. Millions of paperboai’d containers are being sent overseas to our fighting forces every week. These millions are not returned. To do so would place an extra burden on our already heavily loaded shipping. 2. The sec ond reason for the shortage is in the lack of paper pulp, SHORTAGE This pulp shortage is caused by a lack of manpower in the for ests and by a steady decline in the amount of pulpwood available from Canc.cla and other countries. 3. Another reason for the short age is the fact that paper is actually OUTFIT 3 PIECE SUITS 6 COATS used in making weapons of war. Paper is being converted into bomb bands, practice bombs, wing tips, airplane signals, parachute flares, ammunition chests, shell protect ors, shell containers, and other essentials. Paper is trulj’’ ammuni tion. TYPES How may paper ‘ be saved? There are four types of paper wanted: 1. IIev;spaper fold flat and tie in bund les 12 inches high, 2. Magazine-tie in bundles 18 inches high. 3. Cardboard boxes and cartons-fold flat and tic in bundles 12 in ches- high. 4, Waste basket paper-pack down in a box or a bag.
