Deieating Nashville Win County Crovw KUTH RUFFIN I^ECEIVES SPORTSMANSHIP PRIZE Girls* team by trium phing over Uach’Crlllo in the girls divi sion of the coiinty basketball tournament held in Nashvillo o last week became county champions with a score of 16 to 19. Five-dollar award for the best sportsmanship displayed by any girl tlriroughout the three- night tournament v/ent to Ruth Ruffin, guard, FIRST TEAM Placed on the all county first team were Maude Lewis, forward, and Bobby Stott,guard; Rosanna Jones, guard, and Melba Jean Stott, forward, made second team. In addition to the trophy,as winners, each member of the team received one doll ar in stamps. Misa Melba Martin is coach. The boy's team was upset by Castalia in the preliminary con test , -JUNIORS PLAN BANQUET C* i,t the Cherry Hotel in Wilson the junior- senior banquet will be held April 14, at 7:30 P. M. The banquet will be formal, and a four course dinner will bo served. SCHOOL TO PRESENT /U\IIC6 COmNCEMENT Six medals, awards for citizenship, scholarship, and ath letics, v/ill be pre sented here commence ment night. Among these medals are two athletic med als, one each for boy and girl, and three scholarship medals, one for the student averaging highest grade in high school, and one for the vali- dictorian and the sal- utatorian of the senior class. Pinal names will not be announced until the hour of presentation. Waters Uiges Senjots To Continue Education Seniors were recent ly urged by Mr, J. M. Waters from Atlantic Christian College to advance their edu cation further by at tending some collegc, since the best edu cated people after the war will obtain the best jobs. He . declared that those who were in terested in going to college, didn’t mind hard work,were honest, and wouldn't disgrace the college would bo v/elcomed at A. C. Any viay go to some college. PICTURES TO APPEAR IN LAST l^SUE OF BUGLE Sue Lassiter and Bobby Stott, freshman and senior, won in the popularity contost held here last v/eek, sponsored by the juniors in order to raise funds for junior- senior banquet. Seventy-five dollars and thirty-five cents v/as received from the penny votes of the ten-day contest. ELEMENTARY WINNERS Grammar grade winners v;ere Joe Ann Thornton and Richard Etheridge, students of the fifth grade. In the primary depart ment, Jimmy D. Parish and Jan Perry, third grade students, lead in the contest. Pictures of all s:lx winners v/ill appear in the last issue of the Bugle. CLOSE SECOND Running do so second in the contest were Arah P. Horton and John Glover, high school; Ben Etheridge, Irene Glover, Jaan Wells, and Jimmy Har ris, elementary grades. DRIVE TO CONTINUE Red Cross drive \iflll continue until the goal, ^900, is reached. To date $415.45 has been reported.
