October 16. 1944 BAILEY BUGLE pngn 4 PUPILS AID CANADIANS HARVEST TO&^CO CROP Canadian tobacco growers employed four high school students, \Vanda Murray, Billy Murray, Pete Stone, and Ivan Donton, to aid in the housing of tobacco this summer. Impressions received by these students were that the Canadians ai'‘o far more conservative than v;e and that the v/eather is variable, changing from hot, to cold, to rain on turn. Similar to our ov;n amusements wore the movies and skating rinks, but horse breed ing and racing at tracts more interest than in North Carolina. CAFETERIA CANS FOOD FOR BALANCED LUNCHES After canning 368 number three cans of food, lunchroom work ers promise that better meals will be served in the cafe teria. All the vegetables and fruits, exccpt the pears, v/ere donated by the people of the com munity. Assisted by the Girl Scouts, the workers canned 105 nuraber throe cans of pears. Baseball Leads Games Baseball, softball, and choral training consume the majority of the students' time at the daily period of thirty minutes activi ty. Basketball practice will not . begin before the first of November. A study hall for those not interested in any phase of rec reational training wiH STUDENTS RfNttfl SERVICt TO SCHOOL AS JANITOR In the absence of a janitor, students have volunteered to keep the rooms, until the janitor returns to his job. Student volunteers are Bobby Lee Finch, cleaning Mrs. Uov/ard Farmer's room; Marie Lamm, Miss Edith Far-> mer's room; Clarice Pearson, Mrs, Ruth V/ats.on's room; Virgia Strickland and Ber- neace Eatmon, Miss Jewel Langley's room. Fifty cents each per week will be paid to the v/orkers, The hired, janitor, absent because of ill ness, hopes to report for work later. Judging by the keen interest manifested in magazine make up by Keith, Edsel, and Har old, the Bugle must be in for competition. V/hat's to be the name of the new magazine?
