Bugle Demands Hours
OrWDrklnPublication
Hours of planning, check
ing, typing, cutting on
mineoscope,and mimeograph
ing are spent in the pub
lishing of the BUGLE each
month.
Performing the various
duties assigned requires
ingenuity, muscle control,
discerning ability, and a
"nose for news".
VmiTIKG PREREQUISITE S
After class instructions
in the principles of jour
nalism and discussions of
items for news, features,
and editorials, each per
son chooses his subjects
and writes them according
to specified rules, neces
sitating writing and re
writing several times in
order to meet the require
ments of journalism and to
be ready for typing. Vfhon
the typing has been done,
each article must be check*
ed for errors and spacings
marked to form even col
umns.
Ads are designed by the
staff and transferred to
a stencil by the mimeo-
scope workers.
DUl.Q.If
In the spare time, after
all ads have been secured,
a dummy, one-fourth the
size of the Bugle, is
planned as a pattern for
the make-up of ‘ the paper.
Later, regular sized dum
my sheets are marked off
and used v^hen arranging
the layout. This step re
quires considerable think
ing revrorking of arti
cles to make them fit the
space alloted.
Cutting the titles and
typing the stencils are
the next jobs done. When
