Van Noppen's room are grateful for the help of friends in the town and school, lirs. Ruffin sent them a lovely bowl of gold fish, Mrs. Vfinstead gave them parrot’s feathers for the fish, lUre, IJIay brought lovely flowers and flower containers for the gardeij and Mrs. Underwood brought a rooted eultano. There are one ' hundred eighty pupils • enrolled this year in the primary grades , a’ ' 'dfecrea'se “of 13 students over last year. We are very happy to have another teacher, Mrs. Elkins Christian^ to help such crowded conditions* Mrs. Christian has a third and fourth combination grade. There are nov; forty-four children in the first grade, thirty-eight in the first and second grade, forty-four in the second gr&de, thirty-eight in the third grade, and thirty-four in the third and fourth grade. Another teacher is needed in the primary department, but if we are to get another teacher, we must have a good school attendance since the number • of .teachers is based on attendance. SAND BOX GARDEN The third and fourth grade haye a sand box and they are filling it with different kinds of plants and flowers. We hope to have at least 50 different ones in thero by Christmas.
