November 1, 1946 BAllEY 8UGU SAiLEY .NORTH CAROLINA PROJECTOR TO fllO CLASSES, IPSTRUCTORS ’’Seeing is believing" is a proverb that may be used to illustrate the value in class instruction of ' the movie projector, bought by the PTA. The projedtor will be used to suppleraent class v/ork and to demonstrate soue of the best informc^tion avail able. Films on varied suojccts rriay be borrowed from Superintendent L. S. Inscoe’s office. Several short films v/ill impress upon the student more about a country or a particular phase of study than two or three books will imprint; thereby a larger field may be covered in a shorter length of tirie. By actually seeing the story of a poem or book in pictures, the methods of doing things demonstrated, and a country, its people, their habits, customs, and droes portrayed, students will add to book material and their own knowledge a second impression gained through the eye. In the words of our principal, "we remember things v/e see longer than things we read about". Failures Exceed fl s For First Testing Period Report-card grades, as a v;hole, for the first six weeks of school are not up to par with the standard rat ing, as there vrere approximately three times as many D's as A's. On the other hand, attitude and conduct grades were on the upward trend. Everyone realizes, though, that there is still room for improvement in the halls, par ticular in remembering to quiet one’s voice after ho en ters the building. A little more budgeting of time, a little more self- control will blot out the failures, improve the conduct, and give all an increased sense of pride. Susie Bsbbles Page 4 Is This Scene Familiar????
