orated on problems of Amer
ican democracy.

Unconscious of each
other's delivery everyone
was expounding to his
heart's content.
Perched on the tops of
desks, radi§itors, chairs,
standing behind doors, and
propped against bookcases
and various objects, Ilar-
gie Glover, Jacqueline Col
lie, Peggy Brannon, Arleen
Langston, Vivian Griffin,
and Sue Lassiter were re
hearsing their speeches.
The bell rang.Our orators
left the room trembling
from head to toe as they
marched silently to their
classroom, determiried to
convince their isterers

literature by the eleventh
grade English class during
the second six v/eeks of
school,
I'irst, the class analyzed
sjleeches of various Ameri
can orators dealing with
questions confronting the
people of their time. At
the end of this study each
member gave a summary
speech of points stressed
by the orators.

pils read articles in cur

as forcefully as did Pat-
tick Henry v/hen he gave
his "Give Me Liberty or
Give Me Death" Speech.
