Betty Doris, as a member of the Student Advisory Board of STUDEFT LIFE was asked to submit an article pertaining to her school. The article, dealing with clean-up day, has been sent along with pictures taken before and after the clean-up campaign. Below are the opening and closing paragraphs of the article. CITIZENSHIP IN ACTION Mid-term exams were over, but there remained one ex amination for the next day- a test of practical citi zenship. Vi/hen Principal M. W. Wea ver came to Bailey High,he took as the theme for the school, "Better Citizen ship." For four years he has pleaded over the pub lic address system, at as sembly and faculty meet ings, and in private con ferences for cooperative citizenship and cleanli ness. In this, he was sup ported by the school paper. All feel that no better results of the teaching of citizenship can be accomp lished than the developing of school pride, which is comunity pride. All agree, too, that the day proved enjoyable as well as profi table t Girls Admire Os Coir Oscar is the ninth grade health classes' most inti mate friend. He is quite a sport, permitting the classes to pick him to pieces, criticize his make up, or test his strength. Although he is quite a man in size, Oscar is meek, quiet, and agreeable. Any thing anyone doeis to him he takes good-naturedly. Oscar lets the girls stu dy his physique and ask all questions they v/ant re garding his sound body. They too want such a healthy body. Oscar, as you knov/, is a dummy man. By studyiv^g him the girls know more about their physical body and hovi to keep it in good working, healthful condi tion. Jean B.
