We had a Valentine box. covered with white paper with hearts and cupids of red. Each child received many, many valentines. Yt'e used the dollar vie had won at PTA to buy ice cream. This wasn't enough money so we had to take some other out of the treasury. Wc have a chart in our room about the seven basic foods which we have been studying. We are trying to learn v/hat kinds of foods are best for us to eat every day so that vie can be strong and healthy boys and girls. Some of the foods we should eat are green and yellow vegeta bles, fruits, and other vegetables, milk, meat or meat substitutes such as eggs and beans, bread or cereals, and butter or mar garine . Jean Strickland Fourth Grade EIGHTH GRADE TEAMS PLAYS MT PLEASANT TEAM iuonday afternoon, Febru ary 24, the eighth grade girls played a game of bas ketball with the eighth grade girls of i*-ount Plea sant in the gymnasium here. After spirited playing the score at the half was 20-4 in favor of the local eighth grade; but in the last quarter the score was 22-20 in favor of the Kt. Pleasant girls. The captain of the local team was Ruth Eatmon, and the Captain of Mt. Plea sant team was I'ois Jean Medlin. The high scorer for the eighth grade of Bailey was Ruth Eatmon with eight points and sec ond was Hazel Creech and Patsy Edwards with four points each. Lois Jean l,'edlin was high scorer for m. Pleasant with 14 points and Jane Morgan was second with six points. The eighth grade of Bai ley took their loss with calmness and plan to play them again. At the beginning of the year ;7e organized a bird club. In oui‘ room we have many kinds of bird pic tures and posters. We chose a boy from each row to be chairman to make a bird box. They were told on February 5 to have them finished by February 14, The following made' bird boxes; Claj'-ton Brock, Gen6 Finch, Rudolph I.fenning, >arl I.hnningj R. 0. Pace and F.D« Lamm. Geae‘Finch's bird box V7as chosen the most attractive. F.D. Lamm made a bird feeder for us. In our bird club we are going to carVC birds from soap.
