BAILEY BUGLE April 11. 1947 B AILF Y .(rORT H CARO LI N A Parn pn pQj^T H^GAD’*^ entertain A Trip To Detroit Eight Gr.Vi sits Raleigh On Jferch 21, the entire eighth grade and its tea cher went to Raleigh for the day. Those accompany ing the group were I.tr. and l?rs. Algier Lamm, Ifr. and Mrs. I. T. Poole, Mrs. J. T. Etheridge, and Leslie Dew. In the Capitol a visit was made to both houses of’ the legislature v;hich were in session, and the class v;as recognized in the Sen ate by Lt. Gov. Ballertine. A high light of the trip was going through the Gov ernor's office and shaking hands with Governor Cherry. The class enjoyed a trip through the Museum, the Hall of History, the Nev;s and Observer and WPTF, and then had lunch at the S. and V». Cafeteria. Before leaving Raleigh the group drove out to An drew Johnson's birthplace and to the State School for the Blind v;here a spe cial program v/as given by the blind children. This day was voted a most pleasant, profitable, and educational one by all who went. CLASS PLANS EGG HUNT The fi-^th grade had an East3r Qf'g hunt on April 3. Each child brought two-or three e^gs and colored them. Two of the grade mothers, l!rt. Clarence Harris and Mrs. R. W. Jones, served pepsi colas, ritz crackers with peanut butter, and cookies. Y/iley Deans and Coline Bryant found six eggs each.They drew straws to see who would get the prize. Coline was the lucky one. Everyone had a good time. On Friday, April 4, at noon the fourth grade was given a v;oiner roast by our grademothers, Mrs. C. A. Brown, I^rs. Riipprt Perry, and I.'x. C.D. Srown. Vfe wish to say, "Thank yoif’ to our grademothers and to l/T. Brov;n for giving us such an enjoyable.' party. Everyone present had a very good tine. PERFECT AjTENDANCE Students v/ho have neither been absent or tardy this year. Friday morning, March 14, 1947, my mother, father, Bruce Finch,and his feth» er left for Detroit, Mich igan and Canada, From Detroit we went to Canada through a tunnel about two miles long. Vfe visited many interest ing places. The Ford plant covers about three square miles. J. L. Hudson’s store covers a city block and is seventeen stories high. One can buy almost anything there except an automobile. In Henry Fordfe museum we saw a bicycle built for ten people. Byrd's airplane, and the car Ford gave the King and Queen of England to tour Canada in. Our trip was a very en joyable one. sister came back from Detroit with us.
