Since the staff did rot consult Old Kan V/eather the first time, he became angry and sent cold and rainy weather, causing Cotton Wook t6 be postponed. In the honor roll list last month Joyce Brantleyfe name vms ommitted. Joyce is in the eleventh grade. "Attendance has improved except for a few days last v/eeV," said Hr. M.T/V. Wea ver, principal. Mr. Viieaver stated that the causes of absences of late v/ere mumps, chicken pox, and flu. nine awards to be given ut commencement exercises have arrived. Those medals are for the best-all-round students, citizenship, val edictorian, salutatorian, most athletic boy and girl, journalism, iind scholarship As its part of the door receipt of the Nash County Basketball Tournament,Bai ley High received iJlSS.bS. Proceeds from other basket ball games throughout the season amounted to !j,992.18. Next Thursday night Miss Vv'ilma Lee Joyner will show a movie on health to the P. T. A. Mrs. Hov/ard Wilson's ninth grade girls ivill give a skit on ’’Mana ging your Moods." This will be the last program for the year, as the final meeting v;ill be devoted entirely to busi ness. Jr. Red CrossCompletes First Aid Room In completing the conver sion of the old music room off stage into a first aid room, the Junior Red Cross Council was assisted by the eleventh grade home ec onomics girls. CLASS This class fashioned a dressing table, sanded and covered a divan, and made curtains for the room. Material for the curtains was donated to the school by the mother of Mrs. How ard YiTilson, home economics teacher, and J. Vif. Christian' furnished a mir ror . PAINTERS Dale Johnson, council mem ber, and Earl Earp,helper, painted the room a pale green with paint furnish ed by the county. Other as sistants vjere Franklin Brown and Jerry Horton. Needed funds for arrang ing the room were taken from the general school treasury. LAST MINUTE WORDS Mrs. Howard Wilson "Be sure to leave your chairs in placc." t'i's. Howard Farmer--"Let' s work like a Trojan and get this paper out on time." Mrs. Laurine Lassiter--"Be sure to practice." Miss Wilma Johnson "Vfeit a minute" eapecially when we are trying to get out to the lunch line. Barbara Farmer Having received 360 gal lons of orange juice from the government, Mrs. K. F. Lewis, school lunchroom supervisor, plans later in the spring to serve it immediately after activity periods. It is believed that the orange juice will restore energy lost during this period. OTHERS Other articles received as federal aid besides the 3bO gallons of orange juice v/ere 180 pounds of cheese, lb2 gallons of to mato juice, 30 gallons of pineapple, and 24 one-hun- dred-pound bc-.gs of Irish potatoes. POSSIBILITY There is a possibility that federal aid will soon expire. Those in charge of the lunchroom say that they will have the same quality lunch for the sam^ price as long as it is pos sible. If the prices are raised, parents v;ill be notified about the change. Ivlrs. Lewis states that the lunchroom plans to paint the walls and tables of the cafeteria, MEMBERS The members of the Nash County Board of Education while on an inspection tour of the school, ate in the lunchroom and praised the plate served. Assert ing that the same lurch v;ould have cost them a dol lar in any near-by tovm, the members of the board paid a each for their lunches. ¥ts, Lewis asks for any suggestions for improve ment of anything in con nection with the lunchroom.
