Equipment for the two primary grade rooms will consist of blackboards,es sentials needed for li brary corners, lavatories, and teachers* cabinets. In addition to plenty of blackboard and bulletin board space,there will be in the English room mov able desks, storage cabi nets, and a work table ex tending the length of the rear of the room. The library, composed of one of the new rooms and the library book stack room, to be located in the space now occupied by the top of the present stair way, will be a combination study hall, reading room, and magazine display room. BHS Write-Up Appears InNational Mc^igozine "Citizenship in Action," an article written by Betty Doris Sanders, for mer editor of the BUGLE, gains national recognition by being published in the October issue of Student Life, a magazine edited by the National Association of Secondary School Princi pals, in Vvashington, D, C, Betty Doris gave in her article an account of the clean-up campaign that was sponsored by the BUGLE at the beginning of the sec ond semester of last year. Pictures v/ere made of the building before and after the campaign. These pic tures appear with the arti cle. This association prints news from schools that have unusual projects. Yeaver,principal, replies, ”Just count the number of class periods in a school week, the number of nights in a week, ex cluding Sunday, and multi ply by the number of weeks in the basketball season and you’ll have the an swer ." TELEPHONE—At last Bailey High has a telephone.Sever al years ago a telephone was installed but had to be taken out because too many social calls were being made. According to Kr. Weaver, the telephone will not be a new means of communication for gossip or the like but will serve the general school use, KNOTTIEST PROBLEM-"Making ends meet in the lunchroom is the knottiest problem," states Mr, Weaver, For the first month of school the bill was (il.1700 more than taken in through school lunches. Evelyn Poole, Jackie Edwardsjand Beth Bissette are competing with seniors from various schools for scholarships offered by the Pepsi-Cola Company and the Quiz Kids in conjunc tion with the American Heritage Foundation. The scholarships offer high school seniors the op portunity of college training. PEPSI-COLA CONTEST Chosen as students "like ly to make important con tributions to hiunan pro gress," Jackie Edwards and Evelyn Poole will take a two-hour scholastic apti tude test in Bailey High school today. Two seniors from each school in the state are eligible to en ter, and the students in each state receiving high est grades in the prelimi nary test will take a sec ond testjfrom which the two highest contestants in each of the 48 states will become winners of the Pepsi-Cola Scholarship. Entering the Quiz Kids scholarship contest by writing an essay on "What America Means To Me" are Beth Bissette and Evelyn Poole* StudentsToStarIn Pl^y Billy l&jrray, senior, end Octavia Beard, junior, are to co-star in a musical comedy, "The Minister's Aunt", to be given Monday night by the Young Peoplef's Class of the Bailey Meth odist Church in the school auditnri’om. The price of admission will be 25 and 35 cents.
