In November
Our grade had a f'ood time
in Norvember.
We love the stories of
the Pilijriins r.nd the first
Thanl:sgiving in America,
^■/e gave th# November PTA
program, /^fter a Thanlcs-
giving devotional, we gave
a little play baned on
Robert Louis Stevenson's
poems,
Tuesday before Thanks
giving, Mfelvin Brantley's
grandmothar, Mrs. Joyner,
knocked at our door and
asked for Melvin and
Tommy. In a fei; minutes
they come back with ice
cram and fig neutons that
Melvin's ,grandmother and
mother served to all of us.
IJe were gl?.d to have Ifrs.

was a nice jsarty and we

Brantley.
The ne^ct day our teacher
took us for a walk. The
trees were beautiful in
their bright fall dres:ses.
¥e took a basket of fruit
to J. U.’s grandmother who
is sick.
VJe sav; pigs, cows, horses,
dogs and chickens on the
wa^,also a fish pond with
fish in it.

We arc proud of the tepee
and Indian dolls v/e made
■ in connection v;ith Th^nks-
givin3. The Plrls cut the
body, legs and arns for
the dolls fro:n a flour
sack dyed light broim. The
parts were sewn together
and stuffed ^d.th cotton.
Our teacher made hair for
the Indian squav; £ind war
rior from black wool and
helped us dress them,
IJhile the girls were
ma’cin”;;: the dolls the boyn
were ’.''usy mald.ng an Indian
tepee. They brought the
poles from home to make
the frame,and the cover
was made from flour sacks
with de3i?;ns colored on
them.
