PRICE 10i Freshmen Receive Kecognitjon from Student Life SEniORS'-To PfiESEni'REPoy-iTimt Ffliniw'm appil Freshmen math clacs has received a request to sub mit original geometric de signs applying to everyday life and pictures of the class at work for publi cation in Student Life. This recognition comes as a result of an article appearing in the Decem ber BUGLE. Because the vrrite-up, "Classes Drav; Sxaraples of Geometric Designs," showed evidence of the class's havinfT gone deeper into the study of geometric de signs than average, Miss Edith Farmer, math instruc tor, received a special reo^uest from Student Life, for an account of this phase of work. OTHER MATERIAL In addition to the mater ial mentioned above, a pic ture of the author of the article, Octavia Beard, and a write-up, "How To Teach a Unit in Geometric Desif;ns" is desired. Rev. I. T. Poole, minis ter of the Bailey Metho dist Church, made pictures of the ^lass, . Direct From Absentees-During the last fifth month period there were 251 absentees because of sickness, Enrollment-Principal M. W, I'leaver states the school enrollment for this year is 604 students, but through the gain and loss of students there are now 55''- pupils attending. FACl'LTY fORWLATE N£V/ RULES At the last faculty meet ing it was decided to place restrictions on chew- inr^ gum and to close the present library. Ghewinr^ is restricted in high school as a result of the ■decision of the teachers,"to help the stu dents acquire one of the social graces," The teachers c3.aim that the "very unbccoriing" hab it of chewing gum was be coming too general. As a result of the chew ing gm rule, anjr student found with gun in his mouth three times will get D on conduct for the month. The library v^ill re;::ain closed until it is housed in its ne^^r quarters. The teachers assert that it was being used too much for a "hang out" during study halls. Individual teachers will go with their classes to the library’- when books are desired. The Office New Library Books-A pur chase of library books amountin,:: to 0700 has recently been made. News !-All seven buses are now in operation, "That’s news", says Mr. Weaver. Tvt)evrriters-Two now typo- Tvriters have been purchas ed for the typing dept. "A Read2’'-Made Fainily", the seniors' three act comedy,is slated for April 9, at 8 p.m. in the school auditorium. The play is centered around I.(:nQS Mar- t;me, a widow, portrayed by ’]velyn Poole, class sec retary, and Henry Turner, a widower, portrayed by Millard Morgan,class presi dent. PLOT The plot of the piay is based on the attempt of the children of Agnes Mar- tyne and Henry Turner to prevent their parents’ mar riage. By protending to Toe brats, incessant baby prat tlers, victims of epilerjsy, and kleptomaniacs, the children with the help of Lydia, the nevirotic sister- in-law of Agnes, almost. succeed in breaking up the match, PROCEIDS Proceeds from the play will be used to enable the class to leave the school an electrid tiraer for the gym.
