After the first snow, Jean Pace, sophoinore, walked approximately three miles thjrough the snoiy to take to her uncle, Robert Beard, a message of the death of his baby, >Ir. Beard’s tvro sons, Rufi^s and Mitchel, seventh and third grades respectively, who wore spendinp the night j.n Bailey, went with J;^an, Havijig only a smr'.ll foot path on which to v/alk, the three were almost ex hausted when they reached their destination. During the night of the second snow storn, Robert Eurnette walked from his home in the country to Bailey to get a doctor for his father, who vras seriously ill and who later died, Robert has two sisters and tvro brothers in school.
