March 2, 194-8 BAILEY BUGLE BAILEY NOilTH CAROLINA Papo 7 Kolling The Kim As a result of the win over Spring Hope by the Bailey girls, the team re ceived six dollars as a gift. The girls have not yot fully decidod what they will do with the money. Each girl repre- sentin'j; the Bailey girls’ team would like to thank ffr. D. L, Johnson, a supporter of both Bailey teams, Joyce Williams, sophomore, suffered a broken arm be cause of a fall received on ice. She has been un able to practice x^ith the other memberc! of the team. The members state they have missed Joyce and hope that she will be back in practice as soon as her arm heals. Two basketball practices were held by the boys during the forced "vaca tion", Some of the boys have said that because of road conditions they wclk- ed to practices. 6a i I ey Divides Games Bailey basketball teams divided a double-head e r with Coopers in the local gymnasium Saturday ni^;ht. In the girls' same of the night the forwards played what was said to be by the spectator? their best game so far. Anna Leighn John son scored with 12 points, while Dolly Bunn followed with 10, and Lou Glenn with 9. The rrirls topped a 32-22 victory. Glover has boon unable to practice with the girls because of flu. She was able to be in school, but has just be gun to practice again. CoTournarnent Scheduled Match 17-23-Rockyf^Wit Nash County tournaiient will be played in the Eocy Mount gymnasiui^i on March 17,1C,19,20 and 23. A different plan has been made for the tournament. The top seeded team of the countjr will not play until the championship game. The winner of the tour nament will then play the seeded team for the Nash Countj’’ cham-nionshi-o. with 7 points, Billy Hor ner, 6. BHS RUNNERS-UP IN CLASS’B'TOURIWIENT In the class "E" Basket ball tournament hold in Wake Forest, Bailey High School played until the final game. After the final whistle of the .'^asie, Bailey came out runners-, U‘o, For this, Bailey re ceived a tronhy, R, Adams, the most out standing player for Lowes Grove, scored 16 points, B, Perry, B, Ifurray, B, Glover, and D, Stone tied for 4 points each for Bailey, In the first gamo of the tournamentj played Febru ary 18, Bailey defeated Mangum High School 4?-32, B, Horner with 10 points was high for the winners, D, Stone was no:ct with 8, Godfrey vra.3 best for the losers v/ith 14, In the sccond game, Febru ary 19, Bailey edged ’Mt- alcers in a 21-20 victory, E, Perry was best for the winners v/ith 8, Tverette was high for the losers with 13, In the third game (semi finals), played February 20, Bailey defeated Wr.ke Forest High School 39-27. B, Horner started under the basket vdth 18 points, L, G, Deans, B. Perr3'', and B, Glover got 4 each, Hicks dropped 6 for Wake F,
