If it passes, the schools of North Carolina will re ceive annually some over ^22,000,000. This sum will represent quite an increase in the total budget for schools for a year and caj:a bring about some much needed im provements. If the money is made avai.lablo, it is ray opinion that no better use coxild be made of .'it than to reduce the teacher load. Objections are raised to Federal aid to schools by its critics who say that education is a function of the states and that Feder al aid vdll bring Federal control.
