Class Applies Citizenship Votinf by secret bal lot and a clean-up canpaicn comprise ac tivities of civics classes in putting, the study of citizenship into action. Replacing the un painted cardboard trash boxes in the halls, library, sick room, and study hall with fresh painted ones was the first project chosen by the class. Pollowinc the comple tion of the trash boxes, posters were designed and made by the girls. These pos ters reminding stu dents to keep the buil ding olean., were placed over or near the trash boxes. Pos ters carried such v'ell known quotations asf "Cleanliness is next to Godliness" or rhy mes made up by members The next job under taken was that of giv ing the sick room a face-lifting. Sheets and pillow cases were contributed by various students. Others were made of feed sacks and embroidered. Bailey Dry Cleaners cleaned.-- the blanket free of * charge, and the cur-j tains were laundered,' A dressing table and| stool v'ere made withi assistance from the| boys' class. Health! posters were pinned on! the walls, and a plant! added the finishing! touch. I Not all the v/ork, ho’,v-i ever, has been done by j the girls. Once a week’; the boys go . outside, | equipped with homemade | paper-pickers, and i clean the rounds. i- To prepare themselves for future voting they held and electior! using the system of Australian secret bal- -lot..
