Page..2 mmm. i|ebeccaTomlnson \ Helpful teacher, good sport, play director—all this could just apply to one person, Miss Rebecca Tomlinson, senior class sponsor. With her merriment and consideration, Miss Tomlin son, or Miss Tommie as she is called by some of her students, has vron the re spect and esteem of the en tire high school. During play practice Miss Tommie entertained the cast betvireen acts with antics and songs which left everybody refreshed and laughingly ready to continue practice. Being a competant basket ball coach and teacher are not her only abilities, as she paints and wood carves. Nature appeals to this versatile young lady. This love for outdoor life is sho^TO up in her painting of lake scenes, fields, and forest. Never oncc during the trying incidents experi enced during home room period have the seniors vatnessed a display of un controllable temper by their sponsor. Instead of grabbing a student by his hair, so to speak, she conquers the little demon with wit and understanding. Beverly Tapp 'CampJ> The seniors are justly proud of their "actresses” and "actors" that did such a good job for them in the presentation of their senior play, the "Campus Queen." Evidently taking the spot light from the audience's point of /iew v/as Diide Glover, who played the part of a college fresh man. Comments revealed that her audience appre ciated her genuine inter est in her role, the ease and naturalness that she displayed, and her confi dence and poise. Although Lois Medlin isn't alvmys a big flirt in life, she cer tainly attracted the men in her portrayal of the campus beauty. Barbara High, as a man hater; Beverly Tapp, as one who likes the men, but can't gain their favor; Jane Morgan, a typical col lege girl; Doris Murray, the house mother; Ruth Phillips, dean of women; Theron Sanders, Bobby Lamm, and Eldred Perry, rivals for Lois Medlin's favors; Ed Pace; the sensible guy who didn't let Lois' charms carry him away. Gordan Bissette, the tough old assistant dean, final ly softened up when he learned about all the fun he had missea. Anne.Bunn V»fithout Wayne' s assis tance, Lois Thigpen and Doris Joyner would find their task of doing the miraeoscoDe work for the BUGLii) almost impossible. Although a freshman and thereby ineligible to take journa].ism, IVayne has from the first volunteered to draw pictures for the ads and to help design them on the minieoscope during his study hall, afternoons, or nights. Nothing seems to fill Wayne with a greater de light than to see an ad he has dra'TO come off the mimeograph beautiful and catching to the eye. To see the sparkle in his eyes when he picks up an ad he has dravm and to hear him remark, not in a bragging tone, "I drew that," is well worth any body's e;q)erience. The advertisers have indi cated their appreciation of the more artistic draw ings and clearer cutting on the mimeoscope done by Wayne, Lois, and Doris. Everyone agrees that this phase of the paper has def initely improved. The staff hopes that Wayne will be just as interested in joining the BUGLE staff next year as he is in looking forward to that opportunity this year. Bobby Lamm
