Bailey Bugle, Bailey, ycrth Carolina February, 1951 Fa^e 14 Polio Receipts Near Half-Hu ndreclMark With S47.24 Students of Bailey High School pushed the polio drive, making this year one of the most successful. Leading the school, Ifrs» Rudolph Glover’s second grade collected |7.2P. Mrs. J. P. Underwood's class, the sixth grade, ran a close second with $6.65, followed by Miss Idalia Oglesby’s eighth with |6. HIGH SCHOOL MI'S. Howard Farmer’s ninth grade boys showed their willingness to help by taking several folders home to be filled. As a result of extra effort, they led the high school by contributing #4.10. Miss Edith Farmer, junior sponsor, turned in $3.15 taken from her class, while Miss Rebecca Tomlinson’s sejTiors contributed $3.10. INDIVIDUAL CL/^SSES The following is an item ized list of^rades and amounts connected: Mrs. Jake TWright’s fourth grade collected $2.30; Mrs. C.E. Parker’s sixth and seventh grade, $>2.15; Miss Rachel Bissettes seventh grade, $2.05j Mr» Burley Dunn's section of the tenth grade and Mias Frances Gardner's fifth grade tied with $1.65; Miss Myrtle Sessoms, $1*35; Mrs. Laurine Lassiter, $1.34j Mrs. Effie M. Moore, $1.30j Mrs. Floribelle .Bynum and Mrs.- Effie M« Hagwood turned in $1.00, apiece; ‘ Miss Katherine. Wood’s^ fourth and fifth, $ *75; and Mrs* Frances Rouse's ninth grade girls, $ .50. The Banquet Is on The Weiyv From all indications the that great things are in juniors ' must be getting store for them. Anne Bunn ready for that high-light of the year, the junior- senior banquet. Actions prove that some thing is brewing. Even the atmosphere is filled with excitement. Some students who have class in Miss Edith Farmer’s class-room report that frequently a junior will crack the door slightly, peep in, and then sneak in with boxes and bags tilted at an angle to keep the contents from being discovered. YiTherever juniors are gathered, the conversation is about evening dresses. Do you juniors think it is about time for us to be picking our dresses? We don’t like to be rushed at the last minute, you know. Just the other day a high school student was seen copying the addresses of the banquet guests.
