Page 2 Bailey Bugle, Bailey, North Carolina, March 19$1 Librarians For an hour each day the assistant librarians shoulder their responsi bilities without any com plaint or without any corn- pensation other than the joy that comes from pub lic service; thus this paper feels it is tine to give full credit and honor to these people, Jan Perry, Mary Ann Edwards, Gordon Bissette, Jane Morgan, Eunice Perry, Ruth Williams, Sarah Peele, Reba Murray, Doris Murray, and Doris Faye Lamm render their services for an hour daily to check out books, renew books, re ceive books, keep books re placed on shelves, and keep an eye on the maga zines and general upkeep of the study hall. None of the librarians re ceive pay for their work in the library. Mrs. A. H. Farmer, li brary supervisor, states that she couldn't ask for better co-operation from the assistant librarians, When books are overdue, the librarians chase down the borrower. Also, the assistants make sure to get the fee charged for overdue books. This fee is used to replace supplies needed in the library. Mavis Perry Hats off to a very ambi tious woman, Elisabeth Joyner t Although she dropped out of school in her senior year, 193$, to marry Roy Joyner, she re turned to school last year and graduated in May, an honorary senior, along with 3h others. This year, she comes to school trdce weekly to complete a bookkeeping course not taught last year. IVith this post-gradu ate course she is equiping herself to accept a secre tarial or bookkeeping po sition should she ever so desire. Aside from her many house hold tasks, Elizabeth has time for interesting hob bies. One of these is flov;er gardening. She de lights in growing beauti ful varieties of flowers, Elizabeth also works on Saturdays in McClellan's in Wilson. Great pride in her home often leads Elizabeth to paint, improve, and re model, her home, and at small expense too. Yes, Elizabeth the school girl, housewife, church worker, mother, and clerk, is an ambitious person V/e are very proud of Elizabeth, knovdng that she will continue her good viork vdth success. Lois Thigpen. Shirley Creech, sophomore, has a certain air of charm that many people envy. This tall hazel-eyed bru nette, attractive in a quiet manner, is friendly toward everyone. Her friendliness is reflected in other's regards for her. Although an active member of the glee club and church choir, she declares that reading is her hobby and states further that she enjoys caring for small children, since she has tvio young lorothers. Cne of Shirley's friends has this to say of her, "She has a fine personal ity." Shirley takes great in terest in her school work. V/hen she graduated from grade school at lA+, Plea sant, she was salutatorian. In a recent Speech Con test in Greenville, N. C., she and another BHS stu dent tied for fifth place. She and one of her clos est friends, Barbara Nell Lamm, are' planning to be home ec. teachers. Al though they aren't sure of the college they will at tend, they say it vdll be 2CTC in Greenville, N. C., or Berry College in Ga. "No matter which one we decide on, vie want to go to the same college and teach near each other," continues these two friends. Anne Bunn
