Juniors Entertain Seifiiors In An Old Dutch Garden
Amidst the setting of an
old Dutch garden, the jun
iors, under the sponsor-
shin of Edith Farmer,
entertained the seniors
and other invited guests
at the annual banquet Fri
day evening, March 30, at
the Cherry Hotel, VJilson.
The juniors invited sen
iors and other guests to
come through the gate in
to the Dutch garden. A
stone wall bordered with
grass and tulios surround
ed the garden in which was
found a huge windmill and
a tulio tree. In the win-
dov/s v/ere window boxes and
Dutch shoes filled with
tulios.
DECORATIONS
The table was a scene of
many Dutch colors. Candle
holders came from blue
Dutch sailboats with white
sails. Between the candles
v/ere logs with tulips grow
ing from them. Center
nieces Y;ere miniature
Dutch villages in which
ware found cottages, wind
mills, sailboats# Dutch
figures representing dif
ferent vocations of Hol
land, and a stream with
live gold fish. Nut cuos
were small wooden shoes.
PROGRAM
The orogram opened with
the entire group singing
"\'^en You Wore A Tulip",

Gene Finch, vice-president
of the junior class. Tommy
Glover, president of the
junior class, gave a wel
come climaxed with a song
by a musical windmill.
Responding with "In An
Old Dutch Garden" was
Jumiry Jones, president of
the senior class. After
the response the senior
quartet (Jimiry Jones, Ed
Pace, Charles Williams,
and Eldred Periy) sang "Bjr
An Old Dutch Mil",
A toast to the school,
"The Land Below The Sea",
was given by Ifery Lou Lamn.
Following this Kay Ferrell
gave a toast to the facul
ty with M. li!. heaverj prin
cipal of the school, re
sponding with "The Dykes".
Jackie Vicke read "Leake
In The Dyke," after which
The Milkmaids (junior
girls) sang "In An Old
Dutch Garden" while three
couples did a pantomine of
a windmill. Ruth liVilliaras
gave the prophecies "The
Windmill Tells Me". Con
tinuing in the Dutch theme,
"Tboli6 Ollie Doolie," a
duet, was pung by LaRue
IVinstead and Irene Glover,

This was followed by the
windmill playing "Lullaby
and Goodnight".
MENU
The menu consisted of
grapefruit dressed as pots
of tulips, baked ham,
Dickled ueach, creamed
potatoes, English neas,
tulip salad, hot rolls and
butter, iced tea, sail-
boats(anple pie ala mode)
tonoed with green and yel
low sails.
GUESTS
Those attending the ban
quet were members of the
junior and senior classes,
the faculty and their hus
bands or wives, mascots
and their mothers, the
grademothers and husbands,
Mrs, Mary T. Tichenor, and
Mr. and Ivlrs. Carlton John-
