BAILEY BUGTEj BAILEY, WORTH OARQT.TNA . nf.TORF.R, .H$$l County Sets flext year For Hew Home Economics Building For the first time in the history of the school, next year, if all plans materialize, there will be a separate building com prising the home economics department and lunch room. This building, financed by county fimds and to be started in March 19^2, will be at the rear of the auditorium facing the agri culture building. It will be connected to the present building by a covered walk, so that stu dents will be protected from the weather. SCIENCE LAB The old home economics de partment will be used as a science room, the new lunch room will be large enough to accommodate half of the student body at one time. Thompson and Sorrel of Rocky Mount are the archi tects. Mr, M. W. Weaver reports that future plans call for toilets to be placed at each end of the hall up stairs for the benefit of the high school students. School Attains Paved Drive "Not a speedway, but an all weather drive,"is the explication made by M. W. Weaver, principal, con cerning the newly paved drive in front of the school. Paving of the drive was accomplished by the state with expenses taken from it’s road fund. Staff Gains Ideas At Press Convention ' If the journalistic style and qualification of the Bugle appears improved this month, part of the credit imxst go to the N.C.S.P.A. the BUGLE staff attended October 6. Ten journalism students, along with their advisors, represented the BAILEY BUGLE, They were La Rue Winstead, Jackie Vicke, Doris Joyner, Ruby Perry, Eunice Perry, Reba 1^/hitley, Julia Hooks, Jackie Lamm, Lois Thigpen, Wayne Lamm, and the advisors, Mrs. A.H. Farmer and Mrs. L. T. Lassiter. The lectures started at 10:00,lasting through U;30. Aside from the many ideas gained pertaining to sports writing, features, columns, make-up, and the other classes attended, the staff exchanged ideas with other schools. Between 5:00 and 6:30 the state officers wore elect ed. At 8:00 came the ban quet. Miss Carol Goldberg, Hollywood news writer for North Carolina,* was the guest speaker. Brown Replaces Wiggs As Jr. Vice-President Reginald Brown now be comes the vice president of the junior class since the class named him to fill the vacancy left by James Wiggs, joining the Air Forces.
