FF.RRTIARYj Sports Mirror Know Your Teervi PARK 13 Mary Ann Edwards Several changes in the girls' team have been made in an effort to improve the quality of play. The major change^ in order to strengthen the guards, finds Clara Lou Stott in that position. "Lack of speed has been responsible for the drop ping of a number of games by a small number of points each game," points out Coach Pittman. Jimmy Harris, knocked out for the season because of poor health, has rejoined the team as assistant manager. "After overcoming mid season overconfidence, the boys' team appears to be improving rapidly," stated the coach. The cheerleaders are con tinuing to do their part for the team. They have been up against some poor support from the high school and poor sportsman ship from other teams. Fannie Lou Manning made a record for the girls' team in one of the recent games played in the Bailey gym. She was high scorer with 16 points consisting of one field goal and lit foul shots. Fannie Lou made II4 out of 17 tries from the free throw line, a percent age of 82 1/3. With the Nash county basketball tournament com ing up in about a week, both teams should be in top condition for a good battle with their opposing teams. For the outstanding play against Red Oak, the girls' team has been served twice. Again the spotlight throws its beam upon four girls, juniors and seniors this time: Jan Perry, Clara Lou Stott, Fannie Lou Manning, and Mary Lou Lamm. These girls prove one can be a good student and also play basket ball. Jan Perry-A junior, an honor student, assistant teacher for Mrs. Howard Farmer, and a guard on the girls' basketball team are a few of the many ac tivities that Jan partic ipates in. She always has a smile and a word for everyone. Mary Lou Lamm-After three years on the squad, Mary Lou, a senior, fills the position of guard well. Her bright smile at the • basketball games, prac tices, and at school will be missed among the play ers next year. She helps the Bugle staff consid erably by her typing and stencil cutting. Fannie Lou Manning-Her ac curacy at hitting the goal- dumping in as many as 25 Dressing Roodt Repoirf^d With the facelifting job that the dressing rooms have undergone in the gym nasium, these rooms pre sent more adequate facil ities for the team. Some of the additions are heating units, a water fountain, and new doors. All the broken windowpanes have been replaced. Plans have been made for painting the walls and the building of shelves for the girls' dressing rooms. points some nights-makes her one of the most val uable members of the team. She is usually seen with Clara Lou Stott and Jan Perry, the three better known as "The Three Stooges", Fannie Lou is ex pected to play an impor tant part in the tour nament . Clara Lou Stott-The five foot, seven-inch forward, Clara Lou Stott, is found supplying the team with ac curate passes and numerous points. Being the talles' member of the sextet, Clara often plays ^aarc when the rivals have excer- tionally tall forwards.
