LEARNING TO DO DOING TO LEARN FEfi.Hos Lorgest Banquet in History The biggest Father-Son Banquet in the history of tho agriculture department occurred on the night of February 6. There were about 122 members, fathers, and honorary guests present. Two delegates from Middlesex, Bobby Perry and Floyd Bunn, were also present. To get things underway, the sophomore girls served the meal of barbecue, brun- swick stew, potatoes, slaw, cornsticks, and soft drinks (or coffee). Tne opening ceremonies were by the chapter officers] C. D. Mullens welcomed the guestsj and R. >J. Jones gave an "amusing response.” Carroll Jones and Tommy Glover made talks on the accomplishments for the past four yearo and the purpose of the organiza tion. Gene Finch, pres ident, then recognized the honorary guests. Later, the members were given a chance to introduce their parents. Everyone finally got quiet when "Boss", the advisor showed them film slides, taken last summer, featuring Tom Brown Camp and veterens' and ag. boys' crops. The voice of'“Boss" explained each one. The closing ceremonies were by the class officers. Ag.Boys Replace Shrubs If you hear someone refer to the "chain gang", don't be alarmed] they are pro bably speaking of "Corny Boykin, Wiley Williamson, Bruce Finch, and Junior De ment, who have been dig ging up the old shrubbery around the school building and landscaping in some places. The P. T. A, is to re place the old shrubbery with new sometime in the near future. "The boys are cooperating fine and we are grateful for the work being done", states Mr. Weaver. Pace has received county- wide recognition for his yield of corn per acre. This year R. 0,'s total yield per acre was 117 bushels. He won the county championship and the sweep stakes for the whole dis trict. For winning both contests he was awarded two prizes totaling %nS in bonds. At the banquet, R. 0. also won recognition for his corn farming. District Live Stock Judg ing contest will be April 2, and l6.
