All other teachers were re elected. Those resigning are Julia Lawrence, P. S. Music; yiyrtle Sessoms,third gpade; Mesdames M*W. We aver, fourth; Doris H. Parker, sixth and seventh; and L, E. Pittman, science and coach. For the most part the Board gave assurance that the school needs for next year, presented by H, W, Vfcaver, would be granted. In the classrooms, vfhere needed, new shades, desks, window panes, blackboards, and teacher desks were promised. New fixtures for the boys' toilet down stairs, an ad ditional bus, and grading of present school grounds are planned. New doors for the gym, un breakable glass in the bottom panes of outside windows, and door-stop re pairing were on the list. Whether the board will buy additional play ground or change the home econom ic department into an en larged laboratory were questions to be acted upon later. SIHTH TO BE COJflENCEMENT SPEAKERS Seniors open their commencement exercises Thursday evening at 8 o'clock by staging for their Glass Ni.'^ht, Alma Tkter's Children, a three-scene play based on "The Old V/oman V/ho Lives In A Show". The Reverend R. G. L, Ed wards will deliver the Bac calaureate Sermon, Sunday morning. May 18, at 11 o'clock; and Dr, Laurence C. Smith, Professor of Re ligion at A. C., will be the Commencement speaker, Monday evening. May 19, at 8 o'clock. ALMA MATER In the Class Night exer cises Ruth Williams will charagterize the role of Alma l!later. Spirit of the School. Other leading char acters in the program are valedictorian. Gene Finch; salutatorian, Kay Ferrell; historian,Catherine Brown; poet,LaRue V/instead; test- tator, Jackie Vicke; and giftorian, Franlclin Brown. Participating in the play also are class mascots, Joey Bailey and Kay Strick land, and thirty-one first and second graders. Among the various fea tures planned, two clowns, Earl Planning and Owen Strickland, gamely portray class colors and spirit. The two students making the highest record in each of the high school grades are named marshals. The other five marshals are Fannie Lou Ifenning, junior; Jimmy Harris and Peggy Liles, sophomores; Billie Faye Perry and Marlene Eatmon, freshmen.
