Z. lUoshington Trip Comes fls Rewnrd To Bugle Stiift Visiting historical es tates and churches, govern ment buildings, memorials, theatres,department stores, a suoper club and other points of interest vfere the activities of the journalism staff, two advisors, and two drivers whole in Washington, D, C. Pohick Church, the church George Washington attended, was the first stoo made. From there, the grouo went to Mount Vernon, Washing ton's home. After a tour of the grounds, the class left for the Houston Hotel, Thursday night dinner was at the S & W Cafeteria. After dinner the class attended Lowe's Capitol Theatre for a stage show, and movie. 3ENATE VISIT lOTERESTING Friday morning the staff left for the Capitol. Thei-e, autographs and a handshake from Senator Willis Sinith were acquired. The Senate chambers were visioed, Senator Clyde Horys office, and the House of Representatives in session^ Lunch was in the Capitol Cafeteria, At the Smithsonian Insti tute the group divided in ordar to view the differ ent sections. A tour of the Bureau of Printing and Engraving re vealed the processes of raal'.ing money from the time it enters the press until it oomes out in bills and nctec. Thursday evening the class visited the Library of Congress, famed as one of the most beautiful buildings in V/'ashington. On Saturday the group re visited the Caoitol for a more detailed guided tour, "the newly decorated White House was the next stop. Here the Blue Room, Green Room, Red Room, Gold Room, and Reception Hall were open to the public. Next on the agenda was a tour^of the Corcoran Art Gallery* The staff viewed famous portraits, murals, and other works of art. PAN AMERICAN BUILDING A visit to the Pan Amer ican Building established the fact that there TOas an organization of the Tlfe^rn Continent -working for Peace, In addition to its historical significance, the guide pointed o^it cer tain other facts^ relative to the famous building: black marble columns, four of the twelve in United States', banana trees, date palm trees, the coffee HONOR ROLL Except For Absences fJvv'irt. f\r\cV^ Left- Horneir tree, and certain speci mens of tropicad trees and plants, and the Mex ican exhibit, Saturday afternoon in cluded a guided tour of the Washington National Cathedral, A number of separate chapels were visited. After the Cathedral visit, the group drove down Em bassy Road, the homes of the Ambassadors living in Washington, TOUR OF GARFINCKEL The next stop was Gar- finckel's Department Store, one of the largest in Vfash- ington, A guided tour was provided for the class. Then the class went to Murphy's Five and Dime to do souvenir h\inting. Dinner at the Lutus Sipper Club was an added feature of the itinerary made poss ible by the men in the group, Sunday morning, before leaving Vfeshington, there remained the Jefferson, Lincoln, and Washington Memorials and Arlington to visit, Topsy Takes Honors KEITH VICKE won a gold loving cup and a ribbon for teen-age showmanship in the Wilson Kennel Club Dog Show for showing her English Bulldog, TOPSY'S SONNY BOY. The dog won six first- place ribbons for "best dog"in the three different trials. He is fifteen months old.
