SEPTEt4BER 19^2 PAGE $ Librarian Recomfnends Grading Permits Changes In Ployground Procedure In Library Library supervisor, IMLIA OGLESBY, submits for year suggestions relative to library procedure and hand- Lling of books. The high school library opened with am addition of two new books. Miss Oglesby stresses the point that all books should be handled with care because of the expense and time for repairs of damages. Books which are helpful to students in their studies are portrayed on the bulletin board, MAGAZINES Ten magazines are in the school library for stu dent's use and pleasure at all times. Also are three different newspapers: THE K7,'/iS AND OBSEES^ER, THE BAILEY NS4S, and THE NASH VILLE GRAPHIC. Books are loaned for a period of two weeks at the time. Persons keeping books overdue are charged tifl,'o cents a day. The money received in this way is used for re pair of books,, buying new books, and general care of the library. STUDENT LIBRARIANS Six different students eroedite the work of the library by helping stu- doiTts to look up refer- en'^es, keeping books in aJ.iohabetical order, and chocking the books out. These assistants to the librarian are ELSIE RAY EA'l7-^0N, ANN EARP, PEGGY LILES, SHELBY JEAN EATf-ION, BILLY LILES, PATRICIA DEI4, BETTY LOU STALLINGS and JANE BURGESS. Grading . of the school ground during the summer at an approximate cost of ‘^8^0 makes possible addi tional playground for all students and the beauti fication of the front grounds, The grounds at the west end of the building and those at the rear were graded and seeded. These areas are now being used by the students for their games. This new playground sec tion makes it possible for the front grounds to be beautified. It also is a means of eliminating the noise from the playground that dis turbs the classroom work going on within the build ing. Future plans call for a baseball field next spring on part of the newly grad ed grounds. Principal M, W.
