PIacesMoo Order .For Library Books teachers have just placed a $U00.order for library books, the money having been provided for by the state, and’the school. Through cooperative efforts the school, ninth grade girls, and the junior class are each add ing to its treasury through sales of drinks and eats at ball games scheduled in the Bailey gyimasi\im. The popcorn machine,, owned by the school, is carried to the gymnasium for every basketball game and operated by George Thigpen and Donnie Edwards, POPCOEN SALES popcom is sold before games, during breaks at quarters, and half times at five cents a bag or ten cents a box. The proceeds goes to the general school fund. Home made candy is sold by the ninth grade girls as a means of building up their class treasury. For a number of years the junior class has been given the first oppor tunity to say if it wanted the option on running the drink stand at home games, OPTION This choice is granted in order to enable the class to have sufficient funds for its banquet given in honor of the seniors. A schedule made by the class designates three stu dents to sell drinks at each home game. The teach er and class officers ara Sit all games to help. Patrolmen Check Drivers As required by the State Department of Highway Patrol, highway patrolmen have been riding the Bailey buses this month. This is done as a means of maintaining safety measures in the operation of school buses. Another important reason for this requirement is to check the buses’ routes and their conditions. Of this total, $216 came from the state, or !^12 for each ' of the li3 state- allotted teachers at Bailey, COUNTY FUNDS Nash County will match up to |70 any amount any school in the county will raise, Bailey matched this maximum sum. The $70 put up by the school was made possible by the high school library fee of 1.^0 per student. State, county, and school allotments then amounted to 1356. OFFICE FUND In order that the school get full benefit of the order, the state suggests that the schools over order in case of a short age of some books. For this reason Principal Weaver drew from the gen eral office fund $UU, mak ing a total order of $U00. In the case that a teach er didn't order her full $20 allotment, high school librarian, Idalia Oglesby, completed the order by pur chasing books most needed.
