Mrs. Loretta Roberts, of Atlanta, Georgia, an authorized Red Cross demon strator, taught the 30 hour co\irse at Nashville each afternoon last week. TivsFor Teens Do you teen-agers have a record player? Well, how's your collection of records? It seems there are quite a fev; records made these days just waiting to be bought by us teen-agers. The hillbilly music has captured the fancy of us young people today. Since Thanksgiving is just aroxmd the corner, let's thumb through that old record collection to see what old tunes we can refresh in the minds of our friends. Those old records hold many pleasant memories for all. An idea: give a party and exchange records for a while. As most of us are learn ing to dance, a teen-age get-to-gether for dancing with music furnished by the record player would have a strong appeal and satisfy the party desire. Don't let those wonderful pieces of music go to waste. Early morning and lunch period are busy hours in the supply room of the school, as i-t is . these hours that students may purchase supplies from the school store or buy bags of pop corn. Peggy Liles opens the School Store each morning at 8;l5 and sells such supplies as pencils, paper, and notebooks to 8;li5 Peggy receives $1.00 per week for her work, or her lunch money, she affirms. In addition to Peggy, Don nie Edvrards and George Thigpen sell popcorn at the noon hour, Mrs. R.G.L. Edviards, eighth grade teacher, supervises these boys. The proceeds from the supply room and pop corn go into the general school funds. BUGLE To Enter Contest For Tenth Year This will be the last edition of the Bailey Bugle to be submitted to the Columbia Scholastic Press Association Contest for school papers and maga zines . All newspapers must be entered by December 10, a month earlier than pre vious dates. Two copies of each issue since Easter, 1952, are to be submitted for judging. Placement ratings will be announced during the annu al convention, March 12- 13-lIt, 1953* Members will receive their certificates not earlier than one month after the convention. Popcorn To School Superintentknt Expects CompletioB Of BIdg; Dec. If all goes according to plan, the lunchroom-home ec, building will be ready for occupancy sometime in December, reports Super intendent Opie Brantley. At the present time, the workmen are busy laying the celotex ceiling, build ing cabinets for the home- ec, department,and install ing the heating system. Windows and birch doors have already been install ed, and the supply room for the lunchroom is com pleted. After the carpenters finj.sh what they are doing, there will remain to be done only the laying of the floors and the cover ing of the cabinets. Students Use Gym-, Receive Soccer Bolls Soccer balls and new games encoiarage grade stu dents to play "more suc cessfully" in and out of the gym . diiring the ac tivity periods, say the teachers. Students are being taught games learned by the teachers at the physical- ed. shop attended earlier in the month at Nashville. Children playing in the gym must wear tennis shoes or heavy socks and be supervised by a teacher at all times. Soccer balls for the grades have been purchased.
