Bailey bugle, bailey, forth cargli^u, dlcmblr, 19^2 PAGE 11 ■'fey- £^' Before I get doi^m. to writing about oiir basket ball teamsj I would like to take this space to thank the fathers and mothers who make it pos sible for us to partici pate in interscholastic athletics. I want to thank them especially for letting their boys and girls take off from their home duties to practice. COrGRATUT.ATIONS I want to congratulate the fine cheerleaders that we have. I think they give all they have in the sup port of your teams. They really show the good spirit that we find in Bailey High School. Per sonally, they are the best that I have seen this year. Getting 'down tb ou'r basketball teams, I will give some of the statis tics relative to both the girls and boys' teams. GIRLS The girls have a record of 2 wins, 5' loses, and 1 tie game. They have scored li97 points to the op ponents’ 502. .They have made lii2 fouls and have averaged a little more than lj.2 points a game. Gur defense has been good up to this time with most of the work being done by MARY ANN EDWARDS, CLARA LOU STOTT, JAN PERRY, SUE BUNK, ANl^T JOHieON, and MELDA HIGH. Gur guards have made 199 fouls with Clara Lou Stott, 38 and Sue Bunn 36, Jan Perry has 27, Mary Ann Edwards 28, Ann Johnson 1, and Nelda High 1. SUSPENSE 11 Have you seen the Green Hornet? It will appear soon. Watch closely at all basketball games. Keep your eyes open. Can you identify it? There are some other girls that I have not mentioned, but I think every one ...should know them all. They are CAROLYN FINCH, CATHERINE McKEEL, PATTY SUE THOMPSON, and GLORIA Tsm. They, too, do their part in helping in practice and in games. In summarizing, our team has scored 207 field goals, 63 free throws, for the sum total of i|97 .points. They have made 199 - foiils up to this time. I think (See Sports Mirror Pg. 20) Hornets WinThree; Lose Two i Three wins and two losses have come Bailey's way since they played their first county game, De cember 2. The opening games were played at Bailey with both games going to Coopers. The boys and girls handed Middlesex two victories with the girls score 52-57j the boys 35-146. Both teams svjerved to a win as they battled Nashville on the night of December 9. This winning streak has continued by the squads' taking double victories from Whitakers and Spring Hope, Bailey will play nine more county games. From VniLSON
