The parents were ask ed to answer this question: "What fine qualities would you say are most important in a good teacher?" ANSVffiR The most frequent answers in order of popularity are: 1. Patience 2. Humor 3. Genuine understanding and love of children I4, Fairness 5. Kindness 6. Teaching skill, know ledge, and training The teachers were asked to give the five qualities they thought parents should have» The top five were: 1. Fairness 2. Firmness 3. Patience k* Cheerfulness Ability to cooperate Note that fairness and patience were put in both lists. RATING If you are a teacher, take the list submitted by the parents and rate your self. The only one of six traits which applies strictly to teaching is the last, "Teaching skill, knowledge, and training." As you study the first five characteristics, you probably get the same reason why some people say that teachers are born and not made. We, as teach ers, need to improve every trait that will make us better teachers. Parents, study your list M. W. WEAVER and see how you rate on the list prepared by teach ers. One of the things needed in Bailey is for the parents to keep closer tab on their children at night. Most any night one can see boys of almost any age above eight roaming around up town, at the gym, or around the service stations. We do not believe that too much free dom for the school age boy is good for him. To All Teenagers If you have any ideas or suggestions for our Tips For Teens column, please let us have them. You can ■vjrite them down on a piece of paper and leave them in one of the boxes, under the blackboard, in Mrs. Farmer’s homeroom. Any sug gestions you have will be deeply appreciated.
