Author Unknown Full Time Job Surely all have heard this familiar statement; "I will be glad when school is over so that I won’t have to open a book until next September," Does the speaker really mean what he says? Just because school is over for a few months does not mean that it is the end of acquiring knowledge? Probably many students are interested in a certain sub ject that they haven’t been able to take in school. Vacation time is their opportunity to study that par ticular subject. The article is taken from the FRE-NO- CA HIGHLIGHTS, Fremont,N.C. It costs the state of North Carolina an average of IU*28 a day to operate a school bus. This $U,28 does not include any de preciation on equipment; it is purely the operation and maintenance cost. One dollar of this sum goes to the driver, nearly a dol lar to the mechanic, and almost a dollar for gas, oil, and grease, Ihe re maining II.28 is prorated among such items as repair parts, tires and tubes, garage equipment, etc. The annual cost for trans porting each child to and from school in North Caro lina is approximately $15. No state has a better safety record nor a more economical rate than our state. BAILEY BUGLE | Published monthly j 10?! per copy EDITOR; Mary Ann . Edwards ASSO.
