HOVEMBER, 1953 Page 16 School To Purchase $370 Worth Of Librory Books Soon For the purchase of lib rary books this year the school has $370, Money for this purpose came from the fifty-cent library fee students paid in the fall, the surplus on the high school sup plementary fee, and the county's matching the school's money. According to II, ¥, Weaver, principal, $l5U ’^11 be spent to add additional books to the high school librarj’-, and 0216 will be used for the elementary school library. Each high school teacher is allotted the sum of ^7 to purchase books for her department; each elemen tary teacher, $18, Any amount teachers do not use ■will be consumed by the English department. Meeting Mixture Of Fun, Business While drinking cold drinks and eating candy, the juniors chose their class colors, flowers, and motto at a special meeting on Thursday, November 12, Red and Viiiite became their class colors. Their flowers are the red rose and the vrhite carnat ion, "They conquer vrho believe they can," v;as the motto selected by the class. As a means of making mon ey for the class, plans for a junior play were dis cussed and also a paper drive to get old papers to sell to the Roanoke Rapids Pulp Mills. Mrs, Hovifard Farmer and I^LLss Idalia Oglesby will go to the Text Book Com mission Warehouse in Ral eigh to purchase the high school teachers’ selected books, if they’re avail able, A committee yet to be named from the elementary school vdll make the pur chases for the elementary library.
