MILE 11'^! BAILEY. NORTH CAROLINA. DECEMBER. 19^3 ,?agg—8.. All. girls on the ball squad this year shoiild really be thankful to those making the three new rules in basketball. These rules are really an advan tage for the teams* The first rule statee that five personal fouls are allotted to each iplay- er. Dealing with a Jump ball, the other two rules state that the jump must be made either at the cen ter or foul line and the clock stops during the jump. No changes have been made in the boys’ rules this year. Referees secured for this year’s games come from Wake Forest College. REMINDERS Another thing that comes to iiiy attention this month is the racket heard at ball games when the oppos ing team makes a foul. Mr. ^’Jeaver has mentioned this to us before, so let’s show him and the teachers how lady-and-gentleman like we can be at ball games by refraining from booing, whistling, and yelling unnecessarily. I don't believe Mr, Weav er or Mr, Westall has made this request, but we should all know it by now: keep the floor clear of paper, popcorn, and w§ter, so as not to cause the players to fall and hurt Fans,Merchants Donate Funds For New Suits BROOKS PRIVETTE, local merchant and basketball fan, was instrmental in making it possible for the girls’ team to get new suits. At his proposal a nmber of merchants and fans gave a donation toward the pur chase of these suits. Pri- vette contributed the first donation. A committee of five play ers, voted on by the team members, selected the twelve new suits. In ap pearance these suits vary little from the ones new being worn. A list of all viho donated money for the suits is given belovr: W. B, PRIVETTE A. B. and I'JILLIS FARMER >IILLIS FINCH BAILEY FEED MILL* A. B. CORBETT PAUL HDRNER RUPERT PERRY BAILEY FURNITURE CO. I hope you don’t think I have been preaching to you this month because I haven’t meant to, Teoms Split Record County standing for the Bailey G-reen Hornets to date is fifty-fifty.
