Coach, Cousin, To Thcmos Wolfe Just last week it was dis covered that Coach Westall and Thomas Wolfe, one of North Carolina's famous liters, are second cous ins c Although T'Jestail didn't knov7 Wolfe personal ly, he states that as long as Wolfe *s mother liv,:-d his mother corresponded vjith her. WRITING INTEREST Wertall, commenting on Wolfe's I'jriting ability, said that Wolfe's writing interest was probably the result of one of his gram mar grade teachers' spend ing extra time with him because he always pre ferred reading and writing to games and sports, Wolfe did his undergradu ate work at the University of North Carolina and grad uate work at Harvard. At Columbia University he taught English for a few years. All of this took place before any of his famous writings; but he was "alwasy good" when called upon to write, dis closes Westall, PERSONAL TRAIT The coach gave another glimpse of his world-re nowned cousin; writing came easy to him, but he couldn't organize his mate rial, Pages and pages would pile up and then he would have to get others to sort it and get it or ganized, Some of his work is still being sorted and published. In 1938 at the age of 38 Wolfe died, Westall admits that it is "very nice" to have such a genius in the family.
