Page 11 Bosic Studies Stressed In Elementory Grodes VJith the end of the school year only about five weeks away the major concern of the elementary grades is basic studies. Projects are being completed and teachers are trying to ac complish as much work as possible. Mrs, Effie Hagwood's first graders are reading and studying about pets. They hope to have time enough to make pet books, KEEPSAKE BOCKS To show that they have been introduced to certain work. Miss Clee Eatmon's third graders are making a keepsake book in which they keep a variety of work that they have com pleted during the year. Easter baskets for their mothers is another project that is underway, Mrs. R, G. L. Edwards' eighth graders have finish ed the frieze in history of the transition of Ameri ca begun earlier in the year. Plaques have been finished also. Other pro jects have included the construction of geometric designs and the study of the structure of the tree. In addition to the study of the treo booklets were made to illustrate its structure. SICKNESS Mrs. Rudolph Glover's second graders have been carrying on their regular classwork. No projects have been started because of so many absences result ing from sickness. Wild life will be the theme for the new nature project Mrs, Jim Under wood's sixth graders have begun* Mrs, T, C, May’s fourth and fifth graders have com pleted their frieze on going Vfest, They are also "proud" to annoTonce that they have had 100^ for 33 days. The fourth grade boys are equally "proud" to announce that they have had 100^ for 65 days. Mrs. Olivia P. Barnes' second and third graders were honored this month by a visit from a science pro fessor from AC, The pur pose of the visit was to observe the students while they had their science. class. The information was to help the professor com plete his dissertation paper for his doctor's de gree. Miss Rachel Bissette's seventh grade club/ "The Golden Eagles"; had a wei]>er roast.
