PARLBENTARY PROCEDURE CONTEST OCTOBER 18 MIDDLESEX Funk785Proves Best In Punk 785 turned out to be the best variety of corn in a test crop this year with a 63.2 bushels per acre average. Twelve dif ferent varieties of hybrid com were planted side by side, under the same con ditions. All varieties vrore judged by definite standards; nxinber of erect plants standing, height of ear, ear tip coverage, grain quality, resistance to dry weather and heat, and free dom from weevils. Other varieties which turned out to be good this year were Dixie G2 v;ith 62 bushels per acre average; Dixie 19 with 60 bushelsj Coker's 911 and F-11 with bushels; N, C, 31 and N. C« 27 with $0.5 bushels, John R, Lamm and Corny Boykin grew the corn. \®LLS, SRS. ATTEND LUNCIEON J. H, VJells and three sen iors were guests of the Rocky Mount Kiwanis Club at a Farmers Day luncheon at that city this month. Neirton Glover was named secretary of the Nash- Edgecombe Federation for this year during a Federa tion meeting at Benvenue, The purpose of the meet ing was to elect officers and decide on the contests to be participated in. Phil Carlton of South Edgecombe was named presi dent; Johnny Strickland of Middlexex, vice-president; Bobby Lancaster of Coopers, treasurer; Marvin Gay of Whitakers, reporter; Ronald Rackley of Nash ville, sentinel; J. T. Adams of South-Edeecombe.Adviser, STATE FAIR OCTOBER 19 ChapterVotes High Pr^identOt F.f:A. Marshall High was named president of the Bailey Chapter of F. F. A. during a special meetjjig and sup per at Parker's in Wilson. Other officers elected at the supper were Edvdji Finch, vice-president; Newton Glover, secretary; John Robert Lamm, reporter; and Bobby Dew, sentinel.
