BAILEY BUGLE. BAILEY. NORTH CARQLTNA. NOVEMBER. 19*^11 Paga, 13 StoffBusyEarningMoneyForNewYorkTrip GRADEMOTHER.S "Where there’s a will, there's a way" is being demonstrated by the journa lism students in their ef forts to make expense mon ey for the New York trip. They declare they are mon ey conscious all the time, FUNDS Although the staff shares in any BUGLE fund remain ing after all expenses for the publication of the pa per are met, they realize that any- ■ member attending the Press Convention has to meet the additional cost from his own pocket. It is this realization that has prompted the mem bers "to accept any work offered" or to devise ways of earning money. These students may differ in some of the things they do in order to secure ex tra funds, but all agree they are pennypinching and saving, JOBS One student saved the mon ey she made while picking cotton. Now she helps any one needing tasks done a- round the home. Working at the Bailey Cafe and having a "profit able" Christmas card busi ness on the side are the tasks of one student, while another is making a cedar chest to sell. Saving money from her job in the supply room adds to the extra finances of one staff member. Cutting down on refresh ments, along with other small Ivixuries, is being done by many of them. Working a spotlight at the Ice Capades and work ing at the theater is a- nother means of acquiring the needed cash. Upon a reporter's ap proaching one student to . find out her means of se curing money for her trip to New York, she paused and said demuringly, "Be ing sweet to Daddy, but please don't print my name; he may not think I’m that way sometimes." Amounts that have been saved range from two dol lars to twenty-three dol lars. B.K5. Losgs 2 Students As a result of the recent change of tfethodist pas tors, Bailey High School loses two of its students. Freshman Miriam House and her sophomore brother, Tomiry, have moved to Kit~ trell, where they will be in school. The loss of these two stu dents will deci’ease the high school enrollment, since the new pastors have no children of school age.
