NORTH CAROLINA, JANUARY, 1955 Page 16 Sr.Girls Competing In Hornemoker Contest Nine senior girls took the examination this month for the Betty Crocker Search for the All Smeri- can Homemaker of Tomorrow given throughout the na tion to any interested sen ior girl. The purpose of the con test is to find the Home maker Of Tomorrow from each school. General Mills, the spon sor of this test, is endea voring "to focus public attention on what schools are doing to prepare young women for the future, and to demonstrate how home- making can be as rewarding and glamorous as a^y other career," All examinations will be graded in Chicago by Sci ence Research Associates, Winners nf each school will receive a gold pin and a Betty Crocker cook book. Each state winner will receive a $1,500 scholar ship, a gold jewelled pin, a conplete set of the Encyclopedia Britannica for her school, and a trip with her school advisor to the national award dinner in Philadelphia, April 21, This trip will also in clude a tour of Washington, D, C,, and colonial Wil liamsburg, Virginia, The nation-wide winner's scholarship will be in creased to $5^000, and she will receive a specially designed gold pin.
