EAlLEY, NORTH CAROLINA. ....A.PRIL. 1956 Classes Nome Leoders; Activities Vary Throughnut During the year various activities-eloction of of ficers, presentation of plays, campaigns, naming of grade mothers, and many others-have been carried out by the high school classes. Seniors; Juniors Sponsored by Miss Edith Farmer, the senior class of 38 students, 20 girls and 18 boys, has as its president, Billy Liles; vice president, Rgx Vickj secretary, Elsie Eatmon; treasurer, L. B. Adams; social chairman, Charles Rhodes; and historian, Henry Brantley. For grade- mother s they named Mrs. J. M. Burgess, Mrs. Hugh Vick, Mrs. Drexel Rhodes, Mrs. J. R. Thompson, and Mrs. Robey Lamm; and for mas cots, Jewel Kay Christian and Linwood Stone. Following their play^ ’’Take Your Medicine", No vember 11, the seniors honored Ben Etheridge, director, and I4iss Farmer with a party. SENIOR DAY They attended senior day at Greenville on October 6 and State College on De cember 10. Christmas holidays did not stop the activities of the seniors. They sent a gift to Glendora Wilder, a sick student; played a basketball game with Mid dlesex; and their grade- mothers gave them a party and dance. During January and Febru ary they were busy measur ing for caps and gowns, selecting diploma covcrs, invitati ons, and calling cai'ds. The juniors, sponsored by Mrs. L. T. Lassiter,have as officers, president, James Wells; vice presi dent, Charles Williams; secretary, . Mary Ella Glover; and treasurers, Sonja Manning and Dale Wells. Serving as their grademothcrs are I'trs. J. H. V/ells, Mrs, J, ¥, Meacomos, Mrs. L. E. Vick, Mrs. T. V. Lamm, Mrs, M. H, Glover, Mrs, E. T. Manninp, and Mrs. C. V. Wells. Beginning Scptumb^r 30 and ending Octobor 3, the junior magazine drive net ted 5'1827.87, or approxi mately $700 more than any previous drive at Bailey High School. Of this amount the class recuivud 1613.56 profit. Keith Glover was high salesman, selling a total of t201.93 worth of subscriptions. At Christmas the juniors sent money to CARE. They were entertained at a New Year' £; Eve party and dance in thu cafeteria. 'Sophomores Sponsoring the sophomore classes are Mrs. Howard Farmer and W. G. Edwards. Beginning the year with ^)1 students, the classes now enroll Officers in i'lrs. Fari::or's class are president, Shirley Williams; vico president, Diane Tapp; secretary, Audrey Finch; treasurer. The officers of W. G. Edwards' class are presi dent, Jimmy Dev;; vice pres ident, Jeff Denton; secre tary, June Vick; treasurer, Grady Parker; and histori an, Roselyn Turnage. Mrs. Jack Dew, Mrs. A. J. Glover, Mrs. Vestcr Denton, Mrs. John Hathaway, Mrs. Ruby Vick, and Mrs. Doyt Bryant are grademothers. FreshmGn Officers in ’ Mies Oglesby's class are presi dent, Christie Leigh Finch; vice president, Delores Johnson; secretary, Kay Wiggs; treasurer. Boots Harris; social chairman, James Ray Lamm; and report er, Celia Pitts May. Collecting money. Miss Oglesby's class bought gro ceries for a needy family at Christmas. They . had a Christmas Party in the Cafeteria sponsored by their grade- mothers, Mrs, Fred Harris, Mrs. Johnnie Burgess, Mrs. Atlas Wiggs, and Mrs. T. C. May. Officers in W, H, West- all 's class are president, Hodgos Privette; vice pres ident, Jasper Horton; sec retary, Fannie Ruth Howell; and treasurer, J. W, Biss- ette. A party, given by their grademothers, Mrs. Wade Privette and Mrs. Grover Bisscttc, set the Christ mas spirit for this class.
