Among the many things that we are supposed to learn while we are in school, I think discipline is one of the most importantc It mat'^ ters not what job xto intend to do, there are certain traits which we must possess in order to oonplete the task satisfac torily, That is one reason the school insists that you learn to discipline yourself. With American history and world history in their present critical condi tions, the problem of dis cipline takes on more sig nificance, We must re examine our objectives and oior methods to determine how we can turn out citi- 23ns who are best able to face their individual and collective problems. Prop er discipline is one of the chief problems of any schoolt To answer the when, why, hoi-; much, and what of discipline becomes of ma jor concorn. A study made by Lacey of attitudes of several ele mentary teachers showed these items as important attitudes to develop in children: 1, Making the child res ponsible for his per sonal belongings, 2, Developing kindness and courtesy in chil dren, 3, Developing considera tion for the rights of others. ho Maintaining good or der.
