Miss Dorothy Gouch and Miss Agnes Mangum, and their adviser, Ifrs. E. R. Horton, attended the annu al FHA State Convention in Raleigh, April 7. They x^ent by way of the activi ty bus, driven by James Wells. PURPOSE The purpose of this meet ing was to discuss general business concerning all North Carolina chapters and to elect a candidate for National Secretary, Beginning with the regis tration at 9 o’clock, the convention lasted until approximately 3 o’clock. The program was presented by different chapters in the State and by the State officers. As guest speaker. Miss Rosa Lee Armstrong, homo economist with Carolina Power and Light Company and Community Ambassador, told of her visit as good- \j±ll ambassador to Austria, where she lived and worked with the people. To provide wholesome entertainment and to boost the F,H,A, treasury, Bai- ■ ley F.H.A, members spon sored an April Fool’s Dance, April 3> and an April Shower’s Dance, April 2k, reports F,H,A. adviser, Mrs, Elton Horton. Students and their par ents, teachers, and friends gathered in the school cafeteria at 7:30 for dancing. At 10:00 p.m. Mrs, Horton called an end to the nights' festivities. Possessors of the "lucky tickets" were Mary Ella Glover, junior, Kenneth Adams, fifth grader from Mt, Pleasant, and Sandra Barnes, a visitor, Henry Brantley, senior, and Ifrs. Horton judged an endurance contest "a tie" among four couples. Music was furnished by records, April 3. Music for the April Show er's Dance was provided by Royce Lamm and Richard Privette, Door prizes vjore won by Adrian Mitchell, sophomore, and itrs, Grover Bissctte, A cake walk netted Gar land Joyner a cake. Refreshments' consisting of crackers and cookies were served buffet style. E. R, (Buddy) Horton sold soft drinks at both dances. Convention For the first time in the history of Bailey’s FHA organization, the club has the opportunity of sending two delegates to the Na tional FH/i. Convention, July 2-6, at the Conrad Hilton Hotel in Chicago, Illinois, THE TRIP Sue Weaver and Louise Wells will be the dele gates, They will make the trip by train from Raleigh, Most of the time in Chica go will be used for meet ings, but svifficient time will be left for excur sions and sightseeing trips the planners of the Convention declare. A ban quet and the Fourth of July fireworks display will be the highlights of the trip. DELEGATES Only 109 delegates can be sent from North Carolina— 87 students and 22 adults, Bailey will not have the opportunity to send repre sentatives again for four years.
