ACTIVITIES Mary Ann's name, along with 10 other ACC seniors, will appear in the 1956-57 edition of the collegiate WHO'S WHO book. This book lists students receiving the honor in approximately 6^0 universities and col leges. Mary Ann is majoring in physical education and has headed or served as an of ficer in many of the col lege clubs and activities. Another Bailey student, JAN PERRY, a graduate of *53, received an identical honor as a freshman at Western Carolina College. For A More Sympathetic SGrvice ! CALL School Confers Annuol Awards AtCommencement Each year Bailey High School offers to its stu dents several awards, giv en either for an outstand ing accomplishment or for leadership in one of many fields. These awards, . presented at the close' of every school year, include a scholastic award, sports manship awards, best all round awards, valedicto rian and salutatorian hon ors for the seniorsj the Betty Crockcr Homemaker of Tomorrow award, and the bus driver award. • CITIZENSHIP AVJARD Presented to , the student who best -fulfills his du ties as a."good" citizen is the citizenship medal, accepted by the school as the "highest" award one can receive. Added this year to the list of awards are two for American History. At the end of the year all of the high school teachers meet to determine the recipients of the av;ards. At the December meeting of the ■'Future Teachcrs Club, five members and one teacher took part in a pan el discussion on "What Is a Teacher?" The panel was composed of Sue Weaver, moderatorj Lane Farmer, senior; Alme- ta Brown, junior j Celi'a May, sophomorej Janet Wea ver, freshman; and M\£;s Edith Farmer, teacher. Members from’ the eighth grade who were considerlrg entering the teaching pro fession were invited to at tend the meeting. They were given a chance to ask questions or take part in the discussion.
