NORTH'CAROLINA, JANUARY, 19^7 PAGE 17 Daily Bill Gives E St i m ated LunchCost To know what it costs to feed Bailey students and teachers eating in the lunchroom, one can get an estimate from the cost of one day’s lunch, according to Mrs, Kermit Lewis, The day’s meal come to $L|.6,l8, If the question What does a day’s lunch cost? is asked, Mrs. Lewis has only to refer to the re cords kept of each day's menu. The following menu was served January 2, 19^7; Turkey and Hard Boiled Egg Salad (on Lettuce) Crackers Pinto Beans Bread Butter Purple pluiris (Chilled) ^-lilk (plain) The cost of the food for bhat day was Grodes Planning For Second Semester— C. There are three seniors, two juniors, six sopho mores, and seven freshmen on the girls basketball squad. For the second semester of school^ each grade is preparing for various pro jects, chapel programs, or social activities. The main interest in Mrs, Harvey Even's eighth grade was preparing for a chapel program and planning for a Hobby Show, Each student in Miss Rachel Bissette’s seventh grade wishes to express his appreciation to Mrs, Jasper Finch, Mrs, Dan Christian, Mrs* Fred Smith, and Mrs, ^oadus Glover for the lovely party they re ceived at Christmas, CHAPEL PR0®AM Working on a chapel pro gram to be presented in February^ is keeping Mrs, Ruth Underwood's sixth graders busy. They also express a welcome to three new students: Ray Massey, Donnie Page, and Barbara Page, Mrs, Ruby B, Boykin’s fifth and sixth grade com bination are making a book let on "Food", A chapel program is also being plan ned. Winning again for the fifth time, Mrs, T, C' May's fifth graders walked away with the PTA banner. Pictures showing January as the snow month are also being drawn by the stu dents , ESKIMO SCENE Students in Miss Ida Marie Parker's fourth grade brought their toys to school this month, A scene shov:ing the Eskimo life is being planned by the room, and the class is glad to welcome a new stu dent, Dennis Page, Mrs* Olivia P, Barnes has divided her third and fourth grade combination into individual igCDups. Each group is working on a different project. The pro jects consist of a frieze, posters, and displays. The class also welcomes three new students? Dianne Strickland, Vicky Brown, and Danny Brown. Planning an aquarium is keeping Miss Clee Eatmon's third grade busy with the help of their reading, which is their basic in terest, "Hilltop Farm" is the name that Mrs. Altermise Glover’s second graders are using for the minia ture farm they are build ing. PTA SEES FILM "Unsuspected", a film re vealing the story of tuber culosis, was shown at this monthfe meeting of the PTA. Two officials from the tuberculosis association announced plans for ■ the mobile X-ray unit to visit Bailey in February. Mrs. T. 0, May's fifth grade in elementary grades and I>y.ss Edith Farmer’s ninth grade in high school won the banners for having the highest percentage of parents present. Teacher: ’’That's five times this week you have come to class unprepared. Have you anything to say for yourselfi’" Student: "Yes, sir. I'm sure glad it's Friday.
